Punjab Announces Massive Fines for Public and Private Schools Opening Before 8:45 AM

The Punjab government has announced strict new regulations for school timings this winter, imposing massive fines for institutions that open earlier than 8:45 AM.

According to ARY News, both public and private schools violating the directive will face penalties of up to Rs. 500,000.

The new directives will remain in effect from November 3, 2025, to January 31, 2026, as part of the province’s winter adjustment plan.

Under the revised timings, single-shift schools will operate from 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will end earlier at 12:30 PM.

For double-shift schools, the morning shift will follow the same hours as single-shift institutions — 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM (Monday to Thursday) and 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM on Fridays.

The afternoon or evening shift will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 4:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, while Friday’s second shift will run from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
