The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has announced the opening of applications for the Access to Scientific Instrumentation Program (ASIP) for the year 2025-26.
This program provides financial support to PhD scholars enrolled in public sector universities, enabling them to access advanced scientific and analytical facilities to enhance their research.
Eligibility Criteria for ASIP 2025-26
To be eligible for the ASIP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- PhD Enrollment: Only PhD students enrolled in public sector universities in Pakistan can apply.
- Approval Requirement: The applicant’s research proposal must be approved by the relevant university forum, including the Ethical Review Board, Advanced Studies & Research Board, or Directorate of Research.
- Application Deadline: Applicants must submit their applications at least twelve weeks before the proposed sample analysis.
- Access to Tests: Applicants can only apply for tests that are not available at their own institution. If the necessary equipment is available at the applicant’s university, they must provide justification for seeking access to another institution’s facility.
- Supervisor Recommendation: Supervisors are allowed to recommend a maximum of four ASIP applications within one fiscal year.
Key Features of the ASIP
- Funding: The program offers a maximum of Rs. 200,000 per year for sample analysis, covering the period from July 1 to June 30.
- Multiple Applications: While applicants may submit multiple applications, the total funding disbursement cannot exceed Rs. 200,000 per year or three disbursements during the entire PhD program.
- Location of Tests: All tests must be conducted at public sector universities or recognized R&D organizations.
- Payment Process: HEC will directly pay the service provider after the successful completion of the sample analysis.

Applications for ASIP are accepted year-round through HEC’s online portal.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their forms well in advance of their proposed analysis timeline to ensure timely processing.
